Canadian Citizenship

Ms. Chotalia, Q.C., can help you to obtain your Canadian Citizenship.  The citizenship process can be lengthy and complicated.  She has helped hundreds of Canadians through some of the more complex procedures.  As well, if your case is not complicated, but you just need some focussed and strategic legal advice on Citizenship and Immigration Law, then talk to Ms. Chotalia.

Government Announced Residency and Other Changes to obtain Citizenship

The Government will amend the law to require applicants to be physically present for four years (1,460 days) in a six-year period, and require applicants to be physically present in Canada for at least 183 days per year in four of the six years.  Other changes are expected to include what time periods qualify for residency, language proficiency, a requirement that applicants demonstrate an intention to reside in Canada and file income tax forms in Canada. As well, there will be a provision for "lost Canadians" - those born before 1947 such as some first generation children born abroad to war brides and service men who were not eligible for Canadian citizenship to qualify.
