Canada Investors & Entrepreneurs - Government Closing this Program

As of Feb 12, 2014, the Government announced that it was closing these programs.  These categories had been closed since July 1, 2012, but Canada was expected to announce re-opening the Investor Immigrant Program based on new criteria. Applications received before that date continue to be processed.

Start up Visa

On April 8, 2013 the government announced the Start Up Visa wherein applicants invest in Canadian companies in a joint venture and obtain a start-up visa.  The minimum investment for a start-up visa requires investors to secure a minimum investment of $200,000 if the  investment comes from a designated Canadian venture capital fund.  Otherwise, investors must secure a minimum investment of $75,000  if the investment comes from a designated Canadian angel investor group.
