New Federal Skilled Trades Immigration Program

The Government announced in December 2012 a new program designed specifically for the temporary entry of foreign trades persons.  This program has more emphasis on the trade skills in demand in Canada and less emphasis on language and education than the separate Federal Skilled Worker Program.  On April 23, 2014 the Government introduced new caps and cahnges: All 90 skilled trades designated under the program regulations will now be eligible for  consideration, although sub-caps remain in order to ensure appropriate representation of occupations.
